Politics

Political discussion is rampant nowadays. " S o-and-so is the Republican nominee; so-and-so has so many delegates; we have to get Obama out of office ", etc. And biggest thing I have been realizing through all of this, is that most Christians are not giving the final results to God. Everywhere I hear, “Obama can’t win! We have to do anything in our power to stop him!” Unfortunately, for most Christians, that means falling in behind whomever is the “nominee” (giving up principle, i.e. "I don’t really like him but he’s not as bad as Obama..."). They are voting because it is the “right thing to do” and we have to do this or else the country is going to fall apart! Seriously? But, I’m getting off track with where I wanted this to go... As I was reading the Bible last week, two passages stood out to me very vividly, and I wanted to share them with you. Psalm 146:3-10 Do not put your trust in princes, nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help. His spir...

Singleness: Part 1

All was going well. I was learning about becoming a woman of God, home-making skills, and how to love and serve God better. And then I read these verses in Isaiah 54 and a new journey began.... “Sing, O barren, You who have not borne! Break forth into singing, and cry aloud, You who have not labored with child! For more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married woman,” says the Lord. “Enlarge the place of your tent... Do not spare...And strengthen your stakes.... For your Maker is your husband, The Lord of hosts is His name; and your Redeemer... the God of the whole earth..." "For your Maker is your husband..." It was something I already knew; Christian's are the Bride of Christ. It was something that I had been learning about for quite a while, and as I had always understood it (for my life) it was my training ground (if I can say that) for when I would be married someday. And then God asked me something that would change my aspect o...

Singleness: Part 2

As I was thinking about singleness (you can read about it here ), I had another thought. Why is singleness looked at like the black plague? I mean really, have you ever thought about it? Most people don’t grow up wanting to be single with the same enthusiasm that people that want to be married have. What made me want to be married in the first place? Why do people have such an intense desire/want/longing to be married? It’s quite simple; we want to be loved. Except we look for it in all the wrong places... and we don’t trust God. Now, think about this. God loves us. I mean really loves us. Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. If a human being were to tell us they loved us with those same words, we’d melt. Admit it, you would. Yet, when ...

A Passion For Thee...

This is one of my life songs.... Set my heart, O dear Father, On Thee, and Thee only, Give me a thirst for Thy presence divine. Lord, keep my focus on loving Thee wholly, Purge me from earth; Turn my heart after Thine. A passion for Thee; O Lord, set a fire in my soul, and a thirst for my God. Hear Thou my prayer, Lord, Thy power impart. Not just to serve, but to love Thee with all of my heart. Father fill with Thy Spirit, and fit me for service, Let love for Christ every motive inspire, Teach me to follow in selfless submission, Be Thou my joy and my soul's one desire. A passion for Thee; O Lord, set a fire in my soul, and a thirst for my God. Hear Thou my prayer, Lord, Thy power impart. Not just to serve, but to love Thee with all of my heart.

How to Be a Godly Lady

Image
"How to be a godly lady" - sounds like the name of a book, huh? Yet it is something I have been wondering about for quite a while. For the most part, I viewed ladies as elegant women at least in their late 20's (or 30's) that were very refined, and to a point didn't do a lot of outside activities (besides tea and crumpet's, of course). And to tell the truth, drinking tea and eating crumpet's all day did not sound very interesting, at least for me. And to become a true woman of God also left me quite in a pickle, because it seemed like you had to do so much! But, let me back up a bit.         I have two older brothers, one is 7 1/2 years my senior and the other is 5 years my senior and no sisters. So, naturally, I grew up doing most of everything with them. Whatever they did, I did too. To a point I wanted to be exactly like them, between eating whatever they ate to playing whatever video game was popular to tagging along with them in...
