I Don't Want To!

Image
Let us search out and examine our ways, and turn back to the Lord. Lamentations 3:40 Back in August, one of my friends was trying to explain to some of my other friends why I am quiet sometimes, and he described me in a way I hadn't thought of, and seemed out of place. He said I was “ independent” . Well, I’m afraid to inform you, but the first thought that came to mind after hearing that was, I am not! His comment bothered me for a while after that. I wrote in my journal the next week after thinking more about it, “ I hope that the independence that I have is the freedom in Christ type. Where I am only following what God says, therefore I’m viewed as independent because I’m not following the crowd. Something to think about.... ” Unfortunately, after thinking more about it (9 months is quite a while), I am afraid I have come to the conclusion that that is not the main type of independence I have. I do have freedom in Christ, and I have been raised to not fear s...

To Obey is Better Than Sacrifice

I love Proverbs. There are so many wonderful and insightful verses. I came across this one last night as I was looking for another verse... To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. Proverbs 22:3 It immediately reminded me of 1 Samuel 15 where King Saul spared King Agag and saved the “fat of the land” against God’s direct orders to completely annihilate the Amalekites. Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams. ” (1 Sam. 15:22) Have you ever thought of how that verse affects your life? And I’m not talking about head -knowledge, I’m talking about heart -knowledge. We can memorize the entire Bible, but if it never means anything to us personally - if it never grips our innermost-being - it’s useless. ...

Time Is Money

Matthew 25:34-40 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You?   Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’   And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ On Saturday we attended the Greenville Hope Center’s Banquet featuring Brian Birdwell as the guest speaker. At the end of the night, Pastor Randy Daw gave the closing prayer....
