Politics

Political discussion is rampant nowadays. " S o-and-so is the Republican nominee; so-and-so has so many delegates; we have to get Obama out of office ", etc. And biggest thing I have been realizing through all of this, is that most Christians are not giving the final results to God. Everywhere I hear, “Obama can’t win! We have to do anything in our power to stop him!” Unfortunately, for most Christians, that means falling in behind whomever is the “nominee” (giving up principle, i.e. "I don’t really like him but he’s not as bad as Obama..."). They are voting because it is the “right thing to do” and we have to do this or else the country is going to fall apart! Seriously? But, I’m getting off track with where I wanted this to go... As I was reading the Bible last week, two passages stood out to me very vividly, and I wanted to share them with you. Psalm 146:3-10 Do not put your trust in princes, nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help. His spir

Singleness: Part 1

All was going well. I was learning about becoming a woman of God, home-making skills, and how to love and serve God better. And then I read these verses in Isaiah 54 and a new journey began.... “Sing, O barren, You who have not borne! Break forth into singing, and cry aloud, You who have not labored with child! For more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married woman,” says the Lord. “Enlarge the place of your tent... Do not spare...And strengthen your stakes.... For your Maker is your husband, The Lord of hosts is His name; and your Redeemer... the God of the whole earth..." "For your Maker is your husband..." It was something I already knew; Christian's are the Bride of Christ. It was something that I had been learning about for quite a while, and as I had always understood it (for my life) it was my training ground (if I can say that) for when I would be married someday. And then God asked me something that would change my aspect o

Singleness: Part 2

As I was thinking about singleness (you can read about it here ), I had another thought. Why is singleness looked at like the black plague? I mean really, have you ever thought about it? Most people don’t grow up wanting to be single with the same enthusiasm that people that want to be married have. What made me want to be married in the first place? Why do people have such an intense desire/want/longing to be married? It’s quite simple; we want to be loved. Except we look for it in all the wrong places... and we don’t trust God. Now, think about this. God loves us. I mean really loves us. Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. If a human being were to tell us they loved us with those same words, we’d melt. Admit it, you would. Yet, when
